Technical Team Lead – Java

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Team Lead – Java to head a high‑performance backend engineering team for a fast‑growing global fintech. The role blends hands‑on Java development with full ownership of delivery, technical governance, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage a team of 7+ Java backend developers.
• Break down features into clear tasks, assign ownership, track progress and remove blockers.
• Define technical direction for microservices, integrations and event‑driven architectures.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering standards, documentation and best practices.
• Design, develop and maintain Java 17+ backend services, REST APIs and asynchronous processing pipelines.
• Drive performance, stability and reliability through JVM tuning, production readiness and incident root‑cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps/Cloud, Mobile and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Java expertise.
• 2+ years of experience leading a technical team (7+ members) with delivery accountability.
• Proven experience with microservices, distributed systems, REST API design and event‑driven architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
