Testing & Commissioning Manager – BESS & PCS Specialist

About the role

The Testing & Commissioning Manager will lead end‑to‑end technical commissioning, integration and grid compliance of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for utility‑scale renewable and hybrid power plants. You will ensure that battery racks, power conversion systems (PCS), BMS, EMS, safety and auxiliary equipment are commissioned safely, perform reliably and meet contractual, grid code and safety requirements before commercial operation.

Key responsibilities

• Review engineering documents, OEM manuals and performance parameters to confirm commissioning readiness.
• Develop detailed commissioning procedures, test plans, method statements and safety risk assessments.
• Verify installation of battery racks, PCS, MV/LV stations and HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with thermal and spacing standards.
• Lead step‑by‑step energisation, functional testing and validation of SOC limits, charge/discharge limits, protection schemes and control modes.
• Coordinate with PPC/EMS, substation and SCADA teams to validate grid‑forming, grid‑following and frequency support functions.
• Execute black‑start, islanded operation and fire detection/suppression tests where required.
• Document test results, generate commissioning reports and hand over fully qualified systems to operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in BESS, PCS or related power‑electronics commissioning.
• Proven track record with utility‑scale renewable or hybrid projects.
• Strong understanding of grid codes, safety standards and performance testing.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under tight project schedules.
