Turbine Aerodynamic Design Engineer II

About the role

The Turbine Aerodynamic Design Engineer II will support the aerodynamic design, analysis and optimisation of axial turbine stages for gas‑turbine or turbojet engines, working within EDGE's Powertech centre of excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Support design of turbine blades and vanes, including profile definition, angle selection and stacking.
• Perform CFD simulations of turbine cascades and stages, analyse flow fields, losses, secondary flows and heat‑transfer effects.
• Evaluate turbine performance under design and off‑design conditions and assist in matching with compressor and combustor.
• Support rig and engine testing, define instrumentation requirements and compare test data with CFD predictions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal and manufacturing teams to ensure integrated design and provide continuous improvement of aerodynamic tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4–7 years of experience in turbomachinery aerodynamic design.
• Experience in turbine aerodynamics, small gas turbines or turbojet engines.
• Exposure to multi‑stage turbine design and test data analysis.

Required skills

• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation for turbine cascades.
• Aerodynamic analysis and blade/vane geometry generation.
• Performance evaluation and pressure‑ratio optimisation.
• Test data analysis and validation against CFD predictions.
