UAE National Mechanical Engineer (Oil & Gas)

About the role

Wood is looking for UAE National Mechanical Engineers to join its Engineering and Projects team in Sharjah, UAE. The role suits both fresh graduates and experienced professionals with up to 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, and it supports the company's Emiratization objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Graduate and junior engineers (0-2 years): assist in designing mechanical systems and equipment, prepare technical specifications, datasheets and engineering calculations, take part in equipment sizing and selection, review drawings, vendor documents and technical reports, support maintenance and reliability of rotating and static equipment, coordinate with Process, Piping, Civil, Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation teams, take part in site surveys, inspections and project meetings, and help with procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Experienced engineers (4-10 years): perform mechanical design and analysis for Oil & Gas and Energy projects, prepare equipment datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, bid evaluations, mechanical calculations and design reports, and support pumps, compressors, turbines, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and utility equipment.
• Review vendor documentation, take part in HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews and risk assessments, support troubleshooting and reliability improvement, provide technical support during construction, commissioning and start-up, and coordinate with clients, contractors and vendors.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Required profile

• Fresh graduates: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; internship or project experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, Manufacturing, Utilities or EPC is an advantage.
• Experienced candidates: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline and 3-10 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery, Offshore, Power, Industrial or EPC projects; FEED, detailed design, brownfield and greenfield experience preferred.
