About the role
Canonical is looking for an Ubuntu Software Engineer to join its globally distributed Ubuntu Engineering organisation. You will work on designing, building and shipping software that powers one of the world’s most widely deployed open‑source operating systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and ship new software components for Ubuntu.
- Maintain foundational software such as architectures, package managers, compilers, toolchains, bootloaders, filesystems and core utilities.
- Contribute to the Ubuntu Server, Desktop and Debcrafters teams, ensuring robust upgrade paths and high performance.
- Package, integrate, test and ship open‑source software into the Ubuntu repositories.
Required profile
- Passion for quality, performance and resilience in software.
- Comfortable working across the full software lifecycle, from design to packaging and deployment.
- Ability to collaborate in a highly distributed, remote‑first environment.
