Vice President Underwriting - Liabilities

About the role

Intelligent Solutions is recruiting, on behalf of a leading insurance organization, a Vice President Underwriting - Liabilities in Dubai. The role supports the growth and management of the Casualty, Financial Lines and Medical Malpractice portfolio, combining disciplined underwriting, strategic broker engagement and effective risk assessment. It suits an experienced underwriter with strong technical expertise in complex liability risks.

Key responsibilities

• Drive growth of the Liability portfolio across Casualty, Financial Lines and Medical Malpractice through targeted business development and market engagement.
• Identify and pursue new underwriting opportunities aligned with the organization's risk appetite and portfolio strategy.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to secure high-quality new business.
• Conduct detailed underwriting assessments of complex liability risks, ensuring appropriate risk selection and pricing accuracy.
• Structure coverage terms, conditions and limits according to risk profile and market conditions.
• Serve as a key technical contact for brokers, clients and internal stakeholders, communicating underwriting decisions and market insights.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, internal policies and governance standards, and keep accurate documentation.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity, and contribute to portfolio analysis, planning and product development.
• Prepare underwriting reports, risk assessments and portfolio performance updates for management.

Required profile

• 8-10 years of underwriting experience in Liability lines.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or a related field.
• Experience in established insurance or reinsurance environments.
• Professional certifications such as ACII, CPCU or equivalent are preferred.

Required skills

• Strong technical expertise across Casualty, Financial Lines and Medical Malpractice.
• Commercial acumen and ability to contribute to portfolio profitability and P&L.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical decision-making and strategic approach to portfolio planning and underwriting execution.
