Virtual Production Performance Lead

About the role

DeART is looking for a highly skilled Virtual Production Performance Lead to shape the performance direction of cutting‑edge virtual projects. You will bridge artistic storytelling with real‑time technology, guiding digital humans, AI characters and immersive environments from concept to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Define performance concepts, movement languages and emotional behaviours for virtual characters.
• Direct actors, performers and virtual avatars during motion‑capture, facial‑capture and voice sessions.
• Design and manage end‑to‑end performance‑capture workflows, including full‑body, facial, hand, finger and voice data.
• Collaborate with directors, writers, character artists, animators, AI engineers and real‑time developers to integrate captured performances into Unreal Engine, Unity or other real‑time pipelines.
• Oversee rehearsals, blocking, calibration, recording and real‑time monitoring of performance sessions.
• Evaluate captured data for emotional authenticity and technical quality, providing feedback for refinement.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years (36 months) of experience in virtual production, performance capture or related fields.
• Strong understanding of both human performance and the technical systems that translate it into digital characters.
• Excellent communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and guide performers.
