Commis 1 – Kitchen Assistant (Dubai)

About the role

The Commis 1 will support daily kitchen operations in a fast‑paced hospitality environment, ensuring food is prepared to the highest standards and guest expectations are consistently met.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous‑Chef with food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Maintain strict food hygiene, safety, and licensing standards at all times.
• Monitor kitchen equipment, report defects, and ensure timely maintenance.
• Handle inventory tasks such as dating, storing, and sanitising food items.
• Control waste, breakage, and cost‑related items.
• Communicate clearly with senior kitchen staff and attend required meetings.
• Perform repetitive tasks safely and follow all health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• 3–4 years of culinary experience, including at least 18 months as a Commis 2.
• Culinary diploma or a short culinary course.
• Proficient reading and communication in English.
• Ability to work indoors, stand for long periods, and handle flexible shifts, including overnight.

• Food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Knife handling and safe use of kitchen machinery.
• Food hygiene compliance.
• Operation of kitchen equipment.
