Commis II – Cold Kitchen

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis II to work in the Cold Kitchen of our Aloft hotel in Abu Dhabi. The role involves preparing and handling cold food items, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and supporting the kitchen team during service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, including portioning, chopping, storing, washing and peeling fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure, mix and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods for doneness, monitor food quality, and ensure correct temperatures of appliances and food.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean and disinfected kitchen area.
• Follow all company safety policies, report incidents, and maintain a professional uniform and appearance.
• Support team members, communicate clearly, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 lb and standing for extended periods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of related kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Preparing and handling cold food items.
• Measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients accurately.
• Maintaining kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards.
