Construction Manager - Civil (Substation Projects)

About the role

The Civil Construction Manager will lead all civil works for electrical substation projects across the UAE, ensuring safe, efficient execution that meets specifications, authority regulations, and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute civil construction activities for 132kV, 220kV, 400kV and distribution substations.
• Review drawings, specifications and contracts; develop construction strategies and execution plans.
• Coordinate mobilization of manpower, equipment and materials and ensure readiness for electrical equipment installation.
• Supervise site engineers, foremen and subcontractors, monitor productivity and resolve technical issues.
• Interface with electrical, mechanical and commissioning teams to manage interface works.
• Track progress against baseline schedules, identify delays and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure quality assurance, QA/QC inspections and compliance with HSE standards.
• Liaise with consultants, utility authorities (TRANSCO, ADDC, AADC, DEWA, SEWA, EtihadWE) for approvals and inspections.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing civil works for electrical substations in the UAE.
• Strong leadership and team‑management skills.
• Familiarity with UAE utility authority requirements and regulations.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams and manage large‑scale construction projects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of civil construction methods for substation foundations, control buildings, cable trenches, roads and drainage.
• Understanding of UAE utility authority standards (TRANSCO, ADDC, AADC, DEWA, SEWA, EtihadWE).
• Project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring.
• Quality assurance, health, safety and environmental compliance.
