Data Protection Engineer – Corporate Services

About the role

The Data Protection Engineer will lead the design, implementation and management of backup and recovery solutions across both cloud and on‑premises environments. You will ensure data protection platforms meet regulatory standards, support business continuity and drive modernization across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate backup and recovery solutions, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
• Conduct vendor health checks, apply best‑practice recommendations and upgrade NetBackup hardware and software.
• Standardise backup processes across regions, reducing reliance on manual tape management.
• Define and enforce backup retention policies in collaboration with application owners.
• Manage the full lifecycle of backed‑up data, including migration to cloud archival storage and secure off‑site vaulting of tapes.
• Perform regular backup testing, verify RTO/RPO targets and lead data restoration activities during incidents.
• Monitor storage consumption, adjust lifecycle policies and report on backup performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing enterprise backup platforms, preferably NetBackup.
• Strong understanding of cloud and on‑premises backup architectures.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and external vendors.
• Knowledge of regulatory and data retention requirements.
