Department Manager

About the role

The Department Manager will lead the daily operations of a dedicated department within a large‑format retail store. Reporting to the Store Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales, maintaining high customer satisfaction, and ensuring the department meets its performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of department performance, including sales, conversion rates, stock management and customer service.
• Track and analyse key performance indicators, prepare regular reports and implement process improvements.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards and adapt displays for seasonal promotions and product launches.
• Manage inventory levels, conduct stock audits and coordinate replenishment to minimise loss and overstock.
• Handle operational tasks such as rostering, scheduling and addressing customer enquiries or grievances.
• Collaborate with other department managers and ensure compliance with security and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail department or store management.
• Strong leadership and team‑mentoring abilities.
• Ability to analyse data, monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and communication skills.
• Knowledge of visual merchandising and inventory control processes.
