Design Engineer - Structural

About the role

Egis Group is seeking a Structural Design Engineer specialized in steel structures to join its Dubai office. The role focuses on delivering safe, functional and efficient structural solutions that meet client requirements and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical assessments and structural analysis to propose optimal design solutions.
• Develop calculation models and design calculations using engineering software.
• Conduct value engineering and make design‑related decisions.
• Provide design input and technical advice to Project Managers and coordinate ongoing technical matters.
• Report progress to the Department Manager and liaise with consultants, resident engineers and other designers.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to evaluate ground conditions and incorporate findings into designs.
• Assess existing structures, identify flaws and recommend remedial measures.
• Review contract specifications, BOQ and drawings for compliance and clarification.
• Attend design‑related meetings and supervise the drafting team for timely shop‑drawing production.
• Coordinate with procurement, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure material suitability.

Required profile

• Degree in Structural Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in steel‑structure engineering.
• Experience with infrastructural, industrial and high‑end steel structures.
• Self‑driven team player capable of working independently.
• Valid driving license.
• Reports to the Design Engineering Department Manager.

Required skills

• Midas, SAP2000, Staad Pro, IDEA StatiCa, RFEM (advantage).
• Revit, AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, US and British design standards, and local engineering guidelines.
• Proficiency in MS Office; programming experience is a plus.
