Dry Utilities Lead

About the role

Robert Bird Group, part of the Surbana Jurong Group, is seeking a senior Dry Utilities Lead to oversee the planning, design and delivery of dry utilities systems for major infrastructure and mixed‑use projects in Dubai. The role will own the utilities scope from concept through to construction support, providing technical leadership and contributing to business development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of dry utilities systems, including medium‑voltage (MV) and low‑voltage (LV) networks, substations, street lighting, telecom and related infrastructure.
• Manage the utilities scope through concept, master planning, detailed design, IFC and construction phases.
• Prepare and review design reports, calculations, drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
• Develop power demand studies, utility corridor layouts, right‑of‑way requirements and coordination drawings.
• Interface with local authorities and utility providers to obtain approvals and ensure compliance.
• Provide technical mentorship to engineers and designers and coordinate with roads, transport, landscape, building and other disciplines.
• Support bid and proposal activities with methodology, assumptions and technical inputs.
• Assist site teams during construction to resolve technical queries and maintain design intent.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in dry utilities design for large‑scale infrastructure, urban or mixed‑use developments.
• Proven track record delivering MV/LV networks, substations, street lighting and telecom coordination.
• Extensive experience obtaining authority approvals and coordinating utilities in the Middle East.
• Strong knowledge of international and local standards and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects.
