General Technician – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

Anantara Hotels & Resorts is seeking a reliable General Technician to support engineering and maintenance operations at its Desert Islands Resort & Spa. The role involves responding promptly to repair requests, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily preventive and corrective maintenance across the hotel.
• Attend to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, air‑conditioning and general building maintenance requests.
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house spaces and equipment regularly.
• Perform basic AC cleaning and servicing as needed.
• Execute minor repairs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and general maintenance.
• Respond quickly to guest and department maintenance emergencies.
• Maintain tools, equipment and materials in proper condition and storage.
• Report major defects and equipment failures to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Assist specialised technicians and contractors when required.
• Ensure work areas are clean and adhere to health, safety and environmental procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a General Technician, Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in a hotel or resort.
• Hands‑on knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, AC, painting, carpentry and general maintenance.
• Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Safety‑conscious, reliable and service‑oriented.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to live and work in a remote resort location.
