Inspector I - Quality (Welding/Coating)

About the role

Petrofac is seeking an Inspector I – Quality (Welding/Coating) to join its Abu Dhabi site team. You will be responsible for ensuring that welding and coating activities meet project specifications, standards and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report fabrication, installation, erection and testing of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and metallic items.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and weld maps; witness welder qualifications.
• Control storage, handling and traceability of welding consumables and ensure consumable control systems are in place.
• Verify that welding equipment, ovens and quivers are serviceable and within valid calibration periods.
• Perform timely visual and dimensional inspections during fabrication and construction, including in‑process and final inspections.
• Prepare and review fit‑up, final visual, daily welding and coating inspection reports.
• Monitor contractor performance, verify personnel qualifications and certifications for welding techniques.
• Ensure coating activities comply with weather constraints, manufacturer instructions, MSDS and material traceability.

Required profile

• Experience in welding and coating inspection on industrial or construction projects.
• Familiarity with welding standards, WPS, PQR and consumable control procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and inspection reports.
• Knowledge of coating application standards and safety data sheet handling.
