Lead Commissioning Engineer (Instrument & Control Systems)

About the role

The Lead Commissioning Engineer will oversee all commissioning activities for instrument and control systems on oil and gas projects. Reporting to the Commissioning Team Leader, you will guide a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and standards‑compliant hand‑over of plant subsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the discipline commissioning team and direct daily SAT and functional testing activities.
• Provide technical support and resolve issues on control and safety systems.
• Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure compliance with company quality procedures and manage internal and client audits.
• Identify design discrepancies, capture lessons learned, and report them through line management.
• Interpret project documentation, understand scope of work, and prepare method statements, procedures, and routines.
• Interface with other disciplines, vendors, and pre‑commissioning personnel to ensure seamless integration.
• Monitor progress, flag potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure adequate temporary supplies and commissioning spares are available for subsystem testing.
• Maintain compliance with HSE standards throughout all activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrument Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant oil & gas experience, including at least 4 years in a senior commissioning role.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage complex commissioning projects.
• Strong understanding of instrument field devices, control systems, and safety standards.
