Lifting Supervisor

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Lifting Supervisor to act as the Single Point Authority for lifting and hoisting operations on oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role provides PMC oversight, technical assurance, and ensures all lifting activities are planned, risk‑assessed, and executed in line with approved procedures and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the Appointed Person (SPA) for all lifting operations, approving plans and supervising execution.
• Review and control contractor lifting activities, including load charts, rigging arrangements, and crane positioning.
• Conduct risk assessments, ensure compliance with client and project standards, and audit multiple contractors.
• Oversee heavy, critical, tandem, and complex crane operations for process equipment and infrastructure.
• Coordinate with EPC/PMC teams on lifting engineering, equipment inspection, and ground bearing requirements.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in lifting supervision, engineering, or construction within oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, refinery, or major infrastructure sectors.
• Proven experience as an Appointed Person with authority to plan and approve lifting operations.
• Background in PMC/consultancy or client‑side environments, preferably with ADNOC or other Middle East operators.

Required skills

• Certification as an Appointed Person for Lifting Operations.
• Lifting planning and crane operations expertise.
• Inspection and assessment of lifting equipment.
• Knowledge of CPCS/NPORS, LEEA or equivalent certifications.
• Hands‑on experience with mobile, crawler, tower, and gantry cranes, hydraulic lifting systems, chain blocks, hoists, spreader beams, slings, and shackles.
• Ability to interpret crane load charts, calculate lifting capacities and radii, and evaluate ground bearing requirements.
