Marine Electro Technical Lecturer

About the role

The Sharjah Maritime Academy is seeking a qualified Marine Electro Technical Lecturer to join its STCW programme team. The role involves delivering specialised maritime engineering courses to cadets and supporting the Academy’s research and curriculum development goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of STCW Programs in curriculum planning and delivery.
• Teach subjects such as Marine Propulsion Electrical Systems, High Voltage Systems, Marine Automation Systems, and Marine Electronics.
• Develop and update course content in line with STCW regulations and industry standards.
• Design and administer assessments, set examination papers, and provide constructive feedback.
• Conduct research and contribute to the Academy’s research‑active agenda.
• Prepare cadets for Certificate of Competency oral and written examinations, including mock sessions.
• Travel as required and occasionally work outside standard hours.

Required profile

• STCW Class 1 Certificate of Competency (ETO CoC) – essential.
• BSc level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Experience in maritime education, training, or industry support for seafarers.
• Knowledge of the STCW code and experience sailing as an Electro‑Technical Officer on deep‑sea vessels is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to use student‑centred teaching methodologies.
