Marine Engineering Lecturer (Full-Time)

About the role

Sharjah Maritime Academy is seeking a qualified Marine Engineering Lecturer to join its Marine Engineering Technology Programme. The successful candidate will support the Head of Programme and deliver high-quality teaching and training to future maritime professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Marine Engineering Technology Programme as required.
• Teach subjects such as Marine Propulsion Systems, Engineering Management, Marine Engineering Operations and other STCW III/I topics.
• Apply innovative pedagogic approaches, deliver lectures and lead seminars.
• Participate in assessment processes, set exam papers, develop marking schemes and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain up-to-date discipline knowledge and incorporate research-informed teaching.
• Ensure compliance with the academic timetable and calendar.
• Conduct research aligned with the Academy’s research-active ambition.
• Deliver additional maritime training courses as directed.
• Travel when required and work occasional outside standard hours.

Required profile

• STCW Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Engineer) Unlimited.
• MSc or equivalent Master-level qualification in engineering.
• Teaching qualification (preferred).
• Experience in maritime education or training.
• Background as a Chief Engineer on deep‑sea merchant vessels (preferred).
• Experience developing and revising courses, with knowledge of student‑centred teaching methods.
