Planning Engineer – Civil Construction

About the role

The Planning Engineer – Civil will lead the planning and scheduling activities for large‑scale construction projects, ensuring that programmes are realistic, integrated and aligned with client expectations. This senior position reports to Project Directors and works closely with senior management, subcontractors and the project planning team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all planning and scheduling functions across major construction projects.
• Provide strategic planning advice and executive reporting to Project Directors, senior management, and clients.
• Mentor and manage the project planning team to ensure alignment with delivery objectives.
• Prepare EOT claims, conduct delay analysis and develop schedule recovery plans.
• Approve baseline, mitigation and revised project schedules.
• Oversee the preparation of resource plans, KPIs and project cash‑flow forecasts.
• Integrate subcontractor schedules with the master construction programme.
• Support project close‑out activities, including final completion and lessons‑learned documentation.

Required profile

• 8 to 10+ years of experience in planning for large building and high‑rise construction projects.
• Significant senior planning experience with a main contractor.
• Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of construction contracts, delay analysis and claims management.

Required skills

• Expert proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Advanced use of MS Project.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Deep understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) and construction planning methodologies.
