Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer (P4) to lead the Raptors MoU Coordinating Unit at the CMS Office in Abu Dhabi. The role supports the implementation of key memoranda of understanding on migratory birds of prey and dugongs, contributing to global conservation efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all processes related to the Raptors MoU, ensuring effective implementation and compliance.
• Provide support to the Technical Advisory Group and facilitate its meetings and decisions.
• Develop and coordinate national and regional conservation strategies for migratory raptors.
• Lead the Vultures Multi‑species Action Plan and the Saker Falcon Global Action Plan.
• Address cross‑cutting issues such as illegal killing, trade, poisoning, and electrocution of birds.
• Jointly supervise the Associate Programme Management Officer and collaborate with the Dugong MoU Coordinator.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in programme management within an international environmental or conservation context.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi‑stakeholder initiatives and work with intergovernmental bodies.
• Strong understanding of migratory species conservation, MoU implementation, and related policy frameworks.
