Quality Control Inspector – Heavy Section Mill

About the role

The Quality Control Inspector will perform in‑process, in‑line and final inspections for rolled steel sheet pile products in the Heavy Section Mill (HSM). The role ensures compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications and international steel manufacturing codes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑line inspection and classification of rolled products, segregating non‑conforming material.
• Perform final inspections of finished products as required.
• Collect product samples for laboratory testing and carry out dimensional, surface and chemical analysis checks.
• Re‑inspect held materials after corrective actions and prepare detailed inspection reports.
• Enter inspection results, make usage decisions and maintain records in SAP.
• Support implementation of IMS, ISO, ASME and internal quality procedures.
• Follow EHS policies, participate in safety audits and 5S activities.
• Report quality deviations and production issues to supervisors and prepare routine quality reports.

Required profile

• Diploma in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or a related science.
• 2–5 years of quality inspection experience in an integrated steel plant.
• Strong knowledge of heavy section mill operations, especially sheet pile and sections.
• Familiarity with steel defects, production processes and quality standards.
• Proficiency in SAP and basic computer skills.
