Regular or Visiting Faculty – Chemical Engineering (Fall 2027)

About the role

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the American University of Sharjah is seeking candidates for a regular or visiting faculty position starting Fall 2027. The appointment can be at the assistant, associate, or full professor level and involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical, biological, and related engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality lectures, labs, and tutorials for Bachelor and Master programmes in Chemical and Biological Engineering.
• Develop and update course materials, curricula, and assessment methods.
• Supervise undergraduate projects and graduate research theses.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish in reputable journals.
• Participate in departmental service, accreditation activities, and university committees.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience and a strong teaching portfolio.
• Evidence of research productivity and the ability to secure external funding is desirable.
• Experience with the American model of higher education is highly valued.

Required skills

• Expertise in chemical and/or biological engineering concepts and processes.
• Ability to design and deliver engineering curricula.
• Strong communication skills for teaching diverse, multinational student body.
