Research Scientist – Computer Vision

About the role

The Research Scientist in Computer Vision will drive the creation of advanced vision models and contribute to the university’s AI research agenda. The position is fully remote and focuses on innovative algorithm design, model optimisation and integration with large language models.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research on efficient computer‑vision architectures, novel pre‑training methods and multi‑modal models.
• Design, implement and optimise vision algorithms using PyTorch or comparable frameworks, and integrate them with LLMs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional research teams, conduct code reviews and ensure best practices across projects.
• Document findings in technical reports and publish papers at top AI conferences.
• Represent MBZUAI at industry events to showcase cutting‑edge HPC and deep‑learning capabilities.

Required profile

• Minimum Master’s in Computer Science or related field; PhD or equivalent research experience preferred.
• Proven experience with state‑of‑the‑art generative AI, large vision models, and modern deep‑learning techniques.
• Strong background in algorithmic development for imaging, computer vision, graphics or parallel computation, with solid software engineering skills in Python and/or C++.
