Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at dubizzle, you will join a high‑performing cross‑functional squad that powers one of the UAE’s most‑visited online classifieds platforms. You will work closely with product, design, QA and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable services for millions of monthly users.

Key responsibilities

• Get up to speed quickly with the existing codebase and technology stack.
• Lead planning sessions for new product features and define rollout/rollback strategies.
• Design, develop and maintain REST‑based APIs and services within a Service‑Oriented Architecture.
• Write comprehensive unit tests and ensure code follows dubizzle’s programming standards.
• Conduct code reviews, set programming standards and mentor peers.
• Own the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle for assigned components.
• Collaborate with other backend engineers, QA, design and tech leads to share innovations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• At least 6 years of professional backend development experience.
• Proven ability to work independently and drive technical decisions.

Required skills

• REST API design and implementation.
• Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts.
• Unit testing and test‑driven development.
• Code review and mentorship experience.
• Full software development lifecycle (SDLC) expertise.
