Senior Legal Counsel – Global Corporate Finance

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel supports the Head of Legal – Global Corporate Finance & Islamic Banking in managing legal risk across all FAB geographies. The role requires autonomous work while escalating complex or high‑risk matters to senior legal leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to the business while aligning with FAB’s strategic objectives.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts and transaction documentation for a range of finance products, including bilateral, syndicated, project and asset finance.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise senior management on compliance.
• Collaborate with the Head of Legal – Global Corporate Finance & Islamic Banking to implement group legal policies.
• Support subsidiaries and international branches on legal risks related to Global Corporate Finance activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law; Master’s degree preferred.
• English law qualification.
• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience, including at least 2 years in a similar banking or law‑firm role.
• Experience in debt capital markets and Islamic finance is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Legal advisory and risk management for corporate finance transactions.
• Drafting and negotiating complex loan and financing agreements.
• Knowledge of international and domestic banking regulations.
• Stakeholder management with external authorities, courts and law firms.
