Senior Principal Structural Engineer

About the role

The Senior Principal Structural Engineer will lead the conceptual, FEED and detailed design of complex structures for oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes and standards. This specialist role influences resource allocation and project direction across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED and detailed structural analyses and design, preparing calculations, reports and procedures.
• Lead medium to large engineering teams, manage scope, schedule, budget and coordinate with discipline managers and external agencies.
• Prepare bid packages, technical evaluations, specifications, MTOs and supervise design reviews and peer checks.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct peer reviews and ensure constructability, operational and maintainability requirements are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering with 20+ years of oil & gas design experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer or membership in a relevant engineering society preferred.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage resources and communicate complex technical concepts.
• Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.

Required skills

• Structural analysis and design (steel, concrete, geotechnical, dynamic, fatigue, earthquake).
• Finite Element Method (FEM) software and other engineering design tools.
• Knowledge of design codes such as EC, ACI/AISC/API, GOST.
• Preparation of design calculations, reports, specifications and material take‑offs (MTOs).
