Service Engineer – SCMS

About the role

As a Service Engineer for Substation Control and Monitoring Systems (SCMS), you will lead retrofit upgrades, system extensions, and modifications for Substation Automation projects. You will act as the technical liaison with customers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Service Engineering function in project and customer meetings, shaping execution plans and philosophies.
• Coordinate with customers and external parties to prepare project documents, schedules, acceptance criteria, and conduct acceptance testing.
• Execute system integrations, factory testing, and on‑site implementations, including Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and energisation checks.
• Develop HMI configurations and system databases according to project specifications.
• Prepare comprehensive documentation such as system architecture, signal lists, configuration documents, FAT & SAT procedures, method statements, risk assessments, and incident reports.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes, external regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and safety protocols.
• Support continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, assisting with claims, and contributing to product and process enhancements.
• Manage external partners delivering equipment or services, verifying health, safety, and quality compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in service engineering for substation automation or related power‑system projects.
• Strong understanding of contractual obligations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Ability to work autonomously on complex assignments and drive innovation.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers and cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Experience with SCMS/HMI configuration and system database management.
• Knowledge of FAT/SAT procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards applicable to power‑system automation.
