Staff Software Engineer – Cards (Dubai)

About the role

We are partnering with a leading UAE FinTech to find a Staff Software Engineer for the Cards Engineering team. This hands‑on technical leadership position will shape the architecture and direction of a critical, customer‑facing domain within a fast‑growing digital bank.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the entire Cards domain.
• Design and build highly scalable, resilient backend systems for card products.
• Define architecture, engineering standards, and long‑term technical strategy.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence decisions across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Risk, Operations, and Engineering leadership to deliver new capabilities.
• Drive reliability, performance, security, and overall engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Staff, Principal, Lead Engineer or equivalent technical leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of the cards ecosystem (issuing, credit/debit, virtual/physical cards, lifecycle management, authorisation, tokenisation, disputes, fraud controls, rewards, Visa/Mastercard integrations).
• Strong background designing distributed, event‑driven, cloud‑native systems.
• Ability to influence architecture and mentor engineering teams.
