Transport Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Transport Operations Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising daily transport and delivery activities to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective distribution of products. The role also acts as deputy to the Transport Manager when required.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and allocate vehicles, drivers, helpers, and equipment to meet daily operational needs while optimizing fleet productivity and controlling costs.
• Design daily routes and vehicle loading plans to maximize delivery efficiency and meet service level agreements.
• Ensure accurate loading, dispatch, and delivery, minimizing discrepancies, damages, and stock variances.
• Manage COD collection, POD capture, and daily reconciliation with Finance.
• Maintain vehicle roadworthiness, conduct inspections, and oversee maintenance schedules to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Supervise drivers, helpers, and customer service associates, monitoring attendance, performance, and providing training.
• Prepare transport performance reports, monitor KPIs, and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transport, fleet, logistics or delivery operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of transport, fleet and last‑mile delivery operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage route planning, dispatch, POD/COD control and fleet utilization.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tracking.
• Experience in route planning and dispatch management.
• Knowledge of POD and COD processes.
• Understanding of transport compliance and HSE requirements.
• Ability to analyse operational data and drive continuous improvement.
