Transportation Engineer 3

About the role

CDM Smith is seeking a Transportation Engineer to contribute to large‑scale highway, tunnel, mass‑transit and aviation projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves developing designs of moderate complexity, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting project delivery through technical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and design large‑scale transportation infrastructure such as highways, tunnels, mass‑transit and aviation facilities.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and firm policies.
• Perform site reviews, update design requirements, and inspect new construction and existing structures.
• Produce technical documentation, white papers and submit designs to journals; attend conferences to promote firm capabilities.
• Provide technical guidance, training and review work of junior staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation or Structural Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum three years of relevant engineering experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as project needs dictate.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug testing as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer‑assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D/4D software.
• Strong knowledge of engineering design principles and relevant standards (AASHTO, NACTO).
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
