Vehicle Operations Manager

About the role

STAR SERVICES LLC operates an autonomous delivery fleet in Abu Dhabi. The Vehicle Operations Manager leads the team that keeps every vehicle moving and continuously improves the vehicles‑per‑operator ratio. Reporting to the Head of Service Operations, you will scale the team from a few dozen to around 85 people while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Own and improve the vehicles‑per‑operator ratio and shift utilisation.
• Manage attendance, working‑hour utilisation, and roster optimisation across two modes (remote cockpit and safety‑car support).
• Scale hiring, onboarding, and attrition management to support fleet growth.
• Develop and maintain training, certification, and layered quality‑assurance processes.
• Promote internal team leads to supervise shifts and handle escalation ladders.
• Allocate safety‑cars for recovery, escort, and incident support.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years experience in autonomous vehicle remote operations, teleoperation, cloud control, or safety‑operator team operations.
• At least 2 years of people‑management experience, preferably leading an AV safety‑operator team.
• Proven ability to evaluate remote takeovers and ensure high‑quality performance.
• Full‑cycle ownership of a frontline team (recruitment, rostering, performance management).
• Valid driving licence to operate safety‑cars for on‑road checks.
• Ability to extract and analyse operational data using SQL or BI tools and apply AI tools.
