About the role

As Director of Health and Safety you will provide strategic leadership across Cognita, shaping and driving the organisation’s global health and safety strategy, governance framework and standards. The role strengthens safety culture, risk management, compliance and organisational resilience while empowering schools and operational teams to take effective local ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and implement a global health and safety strategy and governance framework.
• Strengthen safety culture, risk management and compliance across all regions.
• Provide oversight of health and safety performance, assurance, incident management and continuous improvement.
• Lead and develop Cognita’s network of health and safety professionals.
• Retain direct responsibility for health and safety leadership within selected schools, offering strategic guidance and support.

Required profile

• Recognised degree or equivalent experience, NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and membership of a recognised health and safety body.
• Senior‑level experience in a large, multi‑site international organisation with a proven track record of embedding health and safety strategies and governance frameworks.
• People leadership experience, managing and developing health and safety professionals, and strong stakeholder influencing skills.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities with expertise in risk management, incident investigation and organisational resilience.
