Health, Safety & Environment Officer

About the role

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of HSE standards across BG Group project sites in the UAE. You will ensure compliance with local regulations, support project teams in risk identification, and foster a strong safety culture throughout all phases of construction.

Key responsibilities

• Implement BG Group HSE policies and UAE regulations, including Dubai Municipality, Trakhees and DDA requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, toolbox talks and ensure corrective actions are closed promptly.
• Prepare, review and monitor risk assessments, method statements, JSA/JHA and RAMS for construction activities.
• Oversee high‑risk work such as work at height, lifting, scaffolding, excavation, hot work, electrical work, confined spaces and site traffic.
• Maintain effective Permit‑to‑Work, PPE, housekeeping, fire safety and emergency preparedness across the site.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, identify root causes and produce accurate HSE reports.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and coordinate with engineers, supervisors and project managers to resolve safety issues.
• Support emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, fire drills and HSE induction training.
• Control environmental aspects including waste, dust, noise, chemical storage, spill prevention and proper disposal.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports and KPI updates.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in construction or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, Dubai authority requirements and industry best practices.
• Proven ability to conduct inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with site personnel, subcontractors and management.
