Legal Counsel – Litigation (UAE Only)

About the role

The Emirates Islamic Legal Department is seeking a proactive Legal Counsel specialized in litigation to support its banking operations across the UAE. The role involves delivering expert legal advice on dispute matters, managing litigation processes, and safeguarding the bank’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on all dispute‑related activities, covering retail, commercial, corporate and regulatory affairs.
• Manage the full lifecycle of litigation cases, from initial review and preparation to coordination with business units and external counsel.
• Draft legal documents, complaints and handle submissions to authorities such as the Police and Public Prosecution.
• Conduct legal research to devise effective strategies for complex legal issues.
• Oversee external counsel performance, ensuring service quality and cost efficiency.
• Deliver oral and written legal advice to branches, units and departments within Emirates Islamic.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and/or a post‑graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
• 2‑4 years of experience in a legal department, with at least 2 years focused on litigation.
• Proven experience in legal management within the banking or financial services sector.
• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non‑legal stakeholders.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
