Material Engineer

About the role

Under general supervision, the Material Engineer evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques to meet construction specifications. The role involves independent inspections, quantity surveying and occasional technical guidance for drafting and surveying teams.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Perform walk‑downs and inspections of installed commodities to ensure conformance with design specifications.
• Conduct quantity surveys, track material usage and report findings.
• Provide technical direction to drafters, technicians and surveyors as needed.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and design documentation.
• Coordinate material-related activities with project teams.

• Works under general supervision while demonstrating sound professional judgment.
• Applies standard engineering procedures to construction tasks.
• Displays ability to evaluate and select appropriate engineering methods.
• Demonstrates attention to detail in technical inspections.
