Payments Counsel – MEAPAC Expansion

About the role

Remitly is seeking a Dubai‑based Payments Counsel to drive its licensing and expansion initiatives across the Middle East and Asia Pacific (MEAPAC). The role partners with business, product, compliance and finance teams to interpret complex regulatory frameworks, negotiate agreements and ensure compliant product launches.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regulatory feasibility assessments for new MEAPAC markets and design legal structures for product entry.
• Lead licensing and authorization processes with financial regulators in jurisdictions such as India, the Middle East and key APAC countries.
• Monitor and advise on evolving payment‑related laws, recommending product or service adjustments as needed.
• Review, draft and negotiate strategic agreements with banks, payment processors and other regulated entities.
• Support government‑relations and compliance teams on regulatory matters and liaise with authorities.

Required profile

• Proactive, highly organized legal professional with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Experience in financial services regulation, licensing and payment systems within MEAPAC jurisdictions.
• Ability to analyze complex legal requirements and provide clear, actionable advice.
