Senior Buyer

About the role

The Senior Buyer will lead sourcing and purchasing activities for Majid Al Futtaim Lifestyle, ensuring optimal cost, quality and availability of product ranges that meet customer needs. Working closely with the General Manager – Planning & Merchandising, the role shapes short‑ and long‑term buying strategies to drive profit and support the brand’s commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a buying strategy aligned with brand and MAF Lifestyle guidelines.
• Manage vendor sourcing, development, contract negotiation and purchasing.
• Coordinate with supply chain and warehouse teams to maximise efficiency.
• Build and monitor Open‑to‑Buy (OTB) plans by store, category and sub‑category.
• Control stock levels to reduce lost sales, improve buying accuracy and maintain a balanced product mix.
• Contribute to annual business plans, budgets and buying strategies, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Achieve financial targets for OTB, margins, sell‑through and markdowns.
• Negotiate pricing, shipment costs, payment terms and margins with local vendors.
• Maintain profitable supplier relationships and ensure contractual compliance.
• Stay updated on customer trends and demographic shifts to inform buying decisions.
• Provide fashion trend and product training to store teams when required.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of experience in a senior merchandising or buying role.
• Retail background is mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Fashion, Marketing or a related field.
• Qualification in Retail Management or Purchasing is a plus.
