Trade Mark Attorney – Mid Level

About the role

Abion is seeking a mid‑level Trade Mark Attorney to join its Dubai‑based intellectual property team. You will manage a diverse portfolio of trademark, design and other IP matters for local and international clients across the UAE and the wider GCC/MENA region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct trademark clearance searches and advise on registrability and availability.
• Prepare and file trademark applications in the UAE and other GCC/MENA jurisdictions, coordinating with foreign associates for international filings.
• Manage prosecution of applications, including responding to office actions and examiner queries.
• Handle oppositions, cancellations and appeals before the UAE Ministry of Economy and relevant tribunals.
• Advise on enforcement strategies such as cease‑and‑desist letters, customs recordals and anti‑counterfeiting measures.
• Maintain renewal, recordal and portfolio management programmes for client trademarks.
• Draft and advise on IP assignments and coexistence agreements.
• Liaise directly with clients to provide strategic IP advice and supervise junior staff.

Required profile

• 2–5 years post‑qualification experience in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, preferably in a law firm or IP boutique.
• Qualified trademark attorney/agent or legal qualification with relevant IP experience; UAE/GCC trademark practice experience strongly preferred.
• Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines across multi‑jurisdictional caseloads with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of UAE Federal Trademark Law and GCC trademark systems.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and client communication skills.
