Junior Fire Safety Engineer

About the role

Jacobs is looking for a Graduate or Junior Fire Safety Engineer to join its Fire & Life Safety and CFD/Tunnel Ventilation team in Dubai. The role will involve fire engineering design work on buildings and infrastructure projects, using both empirical calculations and advanced 3‑D CFD analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate project designs for compliance with fire codes, standards and regulations.
• Assist senior engineers in preparing fire engineering documents such as strategies, briefs, reports and risk assessments.
• Design fire safety solutions from feasibility studies through detailed design, including hand calculations and computational modelling.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to provide fire safety advice tailored to client needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science; a Master’s in Fire Engineering is preferred.
• Experience in preparing fire strategies, fire engineering briefs, reports and risk assessments.
• Basic ability to perform fire growth, smoke movement and evacuation calculations.
• Familiarity with fire standards such as SFPE, NFPA, BS, IBC and IFC.

Required skills

• CFD fire modelling and evacuation modelling.
• Knowledge of fire standards (SFPE, NFPA, BS, IBC, IFC).
• Proficiency with CAD tools – AutoCAD, MicroStation or BIM.
