Adjunct Lecturer - Advanced Academic Writing and Research (Foundation)

About the role

Murdoch University Dubai is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer to deliver the Advanced Academic Writing and Research (Foundation) unit. The role reports to the Dean & Discipline Lead and suits educators with a background in English as an Additional Language (EAL), academic writing or foundation-level instruction. It aims to help students transition into tertiary education by developing their writing, research and critical thinking skills.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, workshops and tutorials on academic writing, reading, research skills and referencing.
• Teach core academic reading, writing and research skills in line with university standards, and guide students in producing work that follows academic conventions.
• Provide constructive feedback and encourage student self-reflection and improvement.
• Assess student work and give timely, actionable feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and engagement.
• Collaborate with program staff on curriculum delivery and quality assurance.
• Use learning management systems and other university software for teaching and communication.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Education or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• At least 2 years' experience in EAL teaching, academic reading and writing, foundation programmes, unit coordination in higher education, or post-secondary lecturing with consistently high student satisfaction.
• Sound knowledge of academic conventions and foundation-level teaching best practice.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of academic writing, grammar, referencing and research processes.
• Ability to support students in developing academic literacy and critical reading and writing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, LMS platforms and university software.
• Technological literacy, good organisation and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams.
