Applied AI Engineer - Agentic Systems

About the role

DeepLight AI, a specialist AI and data consultancy based in the UAE, is looking for a hands‑on Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy LLM‑powered autonomous agents and multi‑step workflows for enterprise use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Architect autonomous workflows by designing multi‑step agent loops, state machines and tool‑calling mechanisms.
• Build advanced context‑management pipelines and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) modules to ground agent reasoning in dynamic enterprise knowledge sources.
• Develop secure API integrations linking LLMs and agents to enterprise databases, legacy line‑of‑business applications and modern protocols such as MCP.
• Write clean, production‑ready Python code with automated testing, structured output validation (e.g., Pydantic), fallback logic and human‑in‑the‑loop oversight.
• Instrument tracing and evaluation suites (e.g., LangSmith, Phoenix) to benchmark performance, eliminate hallucinations, diagnose latency spikes and optimise token costs.
• Collaborate with client technical teams and business sponsors to translate ambiguous processes into clear technical designs and acceptance criteria.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience implementing AI agents, multi‑agent frameworks, tool calling and state‑management systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Python with focus on maintainability, testing (pytest) and Git version control.
• Practical experience integrating commercial and open‑weight LLM APIs, designing prompts and handling model/tool failures.
• Ability to evaluate LLM applications using task sets, failure‑mode analysis and tracing tools.
