Assistant General Manager - HSEQ

About the role

The Assistant General Manager - HSEQ supports the General Manager in overseeing and implementing the organization's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management systems. The role ensures compliance with legal standards, promotes a workplace safety culture and drives continuous improvement in HSEQ performance. It is office-based with frequent site visits to operational areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining HSEQ policies, procedures and programs
• Ensure compliance with local, national and international health, safety, environmental and quality regulations
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and inspections, and enforce corrective actions
• Lead investigations into incidents, accidents and near misses, and recommend preventive measures
• Coordinate training programs to raise HSEQ awareness and competence
• Monitor HSEQ performance indicators and prepare management reports
• Integrate HSEQ practices into daily operations with cross-functional teams
• Support emergency preparedness and response planning
• Represent the company in audits, certifications and regulatory inspections

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in HSEQ management or similar roles
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Willingness to travel to operational sites as required
• Preferred: NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent certification, and experience in industrial, manufacturing or construction sectors

Required skills

• Knowledge of HSEQ standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Risk management and audit procedures
• Data analysis, reporting and presentation
• Preferred: familiarity with sustainability and environmental impact assessment, and quality management systems such as Six Sigma
