Assistant Professor - Sociology

About the role

The United Arab Emirates University is inviting applications for a faculty position as assistant/associate professor in sociology. Qualified candidates will be considered at a rank commensurate with their academic accomplishments. The position is open until filled.

Key responsibilities

• Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level with a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising.
• Develop and complete internally and/or externally funded research grants in the candidate's area of expertise.
• Publish research findings in top-ranked refereed journals.
• Actively promote the growth of the university.

Required profile

• Doctorate in sociology, applied sociology, population studies, economic sociology, social psychology or social statistics; the ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must.
• Specialization in quantitative and qualitative research methodology, preferably in population studies, social policy research, economic sociology, sociology of consumption, quality of life studies or sociology of medicine.
• Industrial and professional experience is a plus.

Preferred qualification

• Ph.D. in Sociology from an accredited university, earned through full-time study.
• Strong, continuous publication record in Scopus-indexed journals and a strong Scopus citation index.
• Experience teaching graduate and undergraduate courses and supervising graduate research and theses.
• Excellent command of English and expertise in program development and curriculum design.
