Assistant Professor – Sociology (Quantitative & Qualitative Methods)

About the role

The United Arab Emirates University seeks a motivated scholar to join its Sociology department as an Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service, with a focus on quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sociology and related fields.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
• Develop and maintain an active research agenda, securing internal or external funding.
• Publish research findings in top‑ranked, peer‑reviewed journals.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.

Required profile

• Doctorate in Sociology, Applied Sociology, Population Studies, Economic Sociology, Social Psychology, or Social Statistics.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses.
• Strong record of publications in Scopus‑indexed journals.
• Experience supervising graduate research and theses.
• Excellent command of English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Experience in curriculum design and program development is a plus.
