Associate - Roads and Highways

About the role

WSP is looking for an experienced Associate to join its Roads & Highways team in Abu Dhabi. The role is at a senior technical level and leads the design delivery of complex roads and highways packages for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate. The successful candidate brings strong technical expertise, extensive experience on Abu Dhabi projects and a proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning and detailed design of roads and highways, including arterial roads, local roads, interchanges, junctions and access roads, in line with Abu Dhabi authority standards, manuals, specifications and international best practice.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, drawings, reports and design calculations.
• Coordinate with internal and external disciplines such as utilities, drainage, traffic, structures, street lighting, landscaping and public realm, resolving technical conflicts and supporting project managers on programme, quality and delivery milestones.
• Take part in technical meetings and design reviews with clients and authorities, support authority submissions and approvals, and advise clients on constructability and risk mitigation.
• Assist with resource planning, project programmes, bid preparation, fee proposals and technical submissions, and contribute to improving internal design processes.
• Mentor engineers and senior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the discipline.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• 15+ years of professional experience in roads and highways design.
• Extensive experience delivering Abu Dhabi-based infrastructure and land development projects.
• Strong understanding of Abu Dhabi authority standards, approval processes and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary design teams and leading technical delivery packages with minimal supervision.
