Bartender - 6-Month Mission

About the role

Sofitel Dubai The Palm, a 5-star beachfront resort on the Palm Jumeirah, is hiring a bartender for a 6-month mission at its Laguna Beach restaurant and bar. The role covers drink preparation, wine knowledge, stock control and responsible alcohol service, working alongside servers and kitchen staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to recipe standards, with attention to taste and presentation.
• Know drink names, ingredients, glassware and garnishes, and recommend specialty drinks such as single malt scotch, cognac, cocktails and craft beer.
• Be familiar with wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list, and know the bar and dining menus.
• Maintain stock levels, complete daily inventory checks and inform servers, managers and barbacks of changes.
• Verify guests are of legal drinking age and follow responsible alcohol service protocols.
• Report income accurately per shift and serve alcohol safely, considering customer well-being.
• Keep the bar and surrounding areas clean and organised, and complete side work such as cleaning and restocking.
• Work flexibly, including nights, weekends and holidays, and assist with other tasks assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Previous bartending experience required.
• Legal drinking age.
• Ability to lift, carry and move heavy objects such as kegs and cases of alcohol.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and stay calm under pressure.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of bar operations, drink recipes and service etiquette.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
