Bartender

About the role

The Bartender at The Hive provides timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing high-quality beverages for each guest. The position reports to the Beverage Manager and the Food & Beverage Director.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all steps of service and prepare drinks according to recipe standards.
• Know drink names, ingredients, preparation methods, glassware and garnishes.
• Know all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list, plus specialty drinks, single malt scotches, cognacs and beer lists.
• Know all menu descriptions of the bar menu and dining room menu.
• Keep stock at par levels, complete daily inventory and inform servers, managers and the bar back of any changes.
• Verify that all guests are at least 21 years old and report all income received during the shift accurately.
• Maintain a smooth flow of service between bar and server requests and sell beverages responsibly.
• Complete side work as outlined in the manual, assist with tasks assigned by the supervisor and follow sanitation guidelines.
• Report to work on time, stay punctual and maintain a clean, orderly appearance in the service area.

Required profile

• Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Responsible, dependable and punctual, with strong communication skills and a clean, professional appearance.
• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• Must pass a background check.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods and to lift up to 50 lbs.
