Biology Teacher - Bateen World Academy (AY 2027-2028)

About the role

Aldar Academies is recruiting a Biology Teacher for Bateen World Academy, a British and IB World School in central Abu Dhabi, starting in the 2027-2028 academic year. The school runs the IB Primary Years Programme (FS1 to Year 6) and the IB Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme (Years 12 and 13). The successful candidate will be closely aligned with the school's core values and ethos.

Key responsibilities

• Plan teaching and learning in line with the Teaching and Learning Policy, setting clear objectives and targets and differentiating for SEN, EAL and G&T students
• Use assessment for learning, performance data and ICT to inform planning and deliver differentiated lessons
• Maintain discipline under the Behaviour for Learning Policy and mark students' work at least once every two weeks
• Assess and record student progress, mark work, and assess students as requested by examination bodies
• Prepare reports for parents and support parent/student events
• Take part in subject development, keeping subject knowledge up to date through CPD
• Lead or support one after-school activity each term, act as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12/13, and cover for absent colleagues
• Invigilate examinations as required and carry out other duties assigned by the Principal

Required profile

• BA degree in Science (Biology) with PGCE in Education
• At least 2 years of experience as a Biology teacher, including GCSE Biology
• Experience teaching students whose first language is not English
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check

Required skills

• Teaching GCSE Biology
• Preferred: experience teaching IB Diploma
